A World Together? (***)

Christmas joy and birthday fun
Opening presents one by one
No special day to shed some light
The broken doll is held so tight

Picnics, swimming at the beach
Friends and family all in reach
A windswept hovel in the sand,
No one comes to lend a hand

A world together ---- but so far apart---- Chorus
We have the means to do--- so--- much
Let’s give them more than straws to clutch.

A bruise kissed better, then a hug
Playing games on a cosy rug
Wounds so deep they may not heal
This game of life seems so unreal

Bath-time fun delighted screams
Bedtime story happy dreams
No clean water, ragged clothes
Haunted nightmares with no repose

Theirs is a bittersweet refrain---- Bridge
Where only fragile hope remains

Schooldays learning how to write
Painting pictures with such delight
No books or joy to fill the breach,
Is this what life has come to teach?

A world together ---- but so far apart---- Chorus
We have the means to do--- so--- much
Let’s give them more than straws to clutch.

This song really needs two singers (Duo) Preferably one male & one female, to sing the two parts to the song - in each verse - where the first two lines would be sung by one singer and the last two by the other.
MY TIME (My Place, My Country)

I’ve travelled widely, this whole world over
lookin’ for somethin’ that really wasn’t there
like that elusive four-leaf clover
‘stead I wound up inside the foxes lair

Some things I’ve done were truly wrongful
I’ve paid the price now, far too many times
When greed sets in it sure is harmful
And only leads the way - to many crimes

This is my time, my place - - my country (chorus)
that’s the way it will always remain
‘cause in this land of the free
there’s no better place to be
it’s so good to be home once again

I’ve been thinking my life over
putting right the wrongs I have done
can’t change this life for any other
but now I know for sure -- the battle’s won

This is my time, my place - - my country (chorus)
that’s the way it will always remain
‘cause in this land of the free
there’s no better place to be
it’s so good to be home once again
