Beyond The Mists of Time

Beyond the mists of time I hear a voice
Calling-out-to-me, from somewhere in the past
Now’s the time for me -- to make a choice
So-will-I-stay, or return again at last ----

The veil is lifted as I turn looking back
To-me-the-future and-the-past are intertwined
Going forward yet-I-know I’m going back
To-my-earliest beginnings, I feel such peace of mind

CHORUS
So far beyond the mists of time -----
I sense a glow- from somewhere in the past
And now------ I surely know ------
That-I-must-return-again--- at last
To-that-sacred place --- beyond the mists of time

Now I’m back again my future to explore
A figure fast approaches and-the-dawn-bells chime
No time to lose - I see beyond the door
Into that sacred place - beyond the mists of time

CHORUS
So far beyond the mists of time
I sense a glow from somewhere in the past
And now----- I surely know ------
That-I-must-return-again--- at last
To-that-sacred place --- beyond the mists of time

Consider the style and songs of Ayesha for this.
1st line of chorus, extend this, repeat, echo, or backing?

You’re Winding Me Up

Every second – every minute – of the day
You’re winding me up now
You-say-you’re-goin’- but then you stay
Like a time-bomb in my head------
Ticking-on, Ticking-on, ticking-on

Bridge
In-a-second-you-were-gone
“Just a- minute”-you had said
We were goin’ to be wed--------
You were windin’ me up again!-----

Chorus
Just like a clock --you’re windin’me up now!---
Wish-that-you-were-in-my-arms
But-the-ticking-never-stops (4/6 beat extend)
Ticking on-ticking on- ticking on----
You’re windin’ me up- windin’ me up-windin’ me up!
You’re windin’ me up aga--------in!

Bridge
Like-a-time-bomb-in-my-head----
“Jus’a minute” you had said
We were goin’ to be wed------!
You were windin’ me up again------!

Chorus
Just like a clock -----you’re windin’ me up now!----
Wish-that-you-were-in-my-arms
But-the-ticking-never-stops (4/6 beat extend)
Ticking on-ticking on- ticking on----
You’re windin’ me up aga-----in!

Suggestions: ‘Windmills of My Mind’ style? But Rock/Pop. Beat (steady) as a ticking clock.
Bridge: Starting low and rising with each line, build up to Chorus.
Electronic guitar (?) to mimic the sound of a large wound up metallic spring breaking down, at the end + drums. Then after a moments silence, the ‘ticking’ starts again, and fades out.
This could be the finish OR build up again to another Chorus.

There Is A Fire

I’m burnin’ up
With sheer frustration
So much to do
To wake up this nation---

We’re fallin’ apart
Is nobody caring
No time to lose
We gotta start sharing---

Chorus
There is fire in our heart
A deep desire now to start
Sisters and brothers (“are you with us?)
Fathers and mothers (“C’mon now!)

Bridge
There is a fire ---- a burnin’ desire
To make this nation ---- a livin’ sensation

2nd verse rpt.
We’re fallin’ apart
Is nobody caring
No time to lose
We gotta start sharing---

Bridge
There is a fire ---- a burnin’ desire
To make this nation ---- a livin’ sensation

Yes! There is a fire ------- in my heart

Suggestions: Beat, rhythm, style ‘similar’ to “Billie Jean”/Jackson
Short, punchy lead into Chorus from 2nd verse.
Distinctive beat/trumpet, as used between verse/chorus in ‘YMCA’, leading up to 1st bridge.
Beat & clap to 2nd bridge. Other possibilities of course, including the idea of going straight into
the Chorus again after the 2nd bridge, allowing more audience participation.

The Screen of Your Mind

Why don’t you wake up to reality
Switch off from that technology
It’s amazin’ what you can find -
When you look on the screen of your mind

You maybe get a great sensation -
But it's stopping your imagination
‘cos what your lookin’ at jus’ aint real
and it’s changin’ the way that you feel –

CHORUS
Look on the screen of your mind - -
An’ it’s amazin’ jus what you can do - -
You can use all that technology
Right inside of you - - -
Look on the screen of your mind - - -

BRIDGE
Look on the screen of your mind - -
An’ it’s amazin’ what you will find -
Look on the screen - - - of your mind - -

You think it’s you that’s in control - -
Man it’s really got hold of your soul
C’mon wake up now to reality
Become the very best that you can be - -

BRIDGE (Repeat)
Look on the screen of your mind - -
An’ it’s amazin’ what you will find -
Look on the screen - - - of your mind - -

(with Chorus repeat, added on?)

Suggest: Pop/Rock style. Medium/fast? With electronic/computer noises included as appropriate?

Sunrise Mountain (***)

Sunrise - Mountain—
Is callin’ to me-
Daylight is comin’
Like gold across the sea-

It’s a feelin’ of wonder
A new day has begun
Longin’ to meet you

Is There Anybody There?

Knew before I got your letter, there was something wrong,
Should have stayed beside you, right where I belong,
Maybe we’d still be together, in another place,
Goin’ home is going to be, so difficult to face

Was it somethin’ I said or did, made you go away?
Maybe there’s another, is that why you can’t stay?
If I had some answers, then I could put things right --
‘stead of wakin’ up from nightmares, in the middle of the night

Chorus
Is there anybody there? Is there anybody there?
I called out softly, is there anybody there?

Every room is dark and empty, not a sound can I hear
I long for just a whisper, to know you are near,
Thought I heard the sound, of a closing door ---
But I knew it couldn’t be that way, not any more --

Chorus
Is there anybody there? Is there anybody there?
I called out softly, is there anybody there?

Anybody there? ----- anybody there? -----
“Where are you baby?” - - (spoken)
Is there anybody there? -------

Repeat to fade.

Blues style song? or at least with a slower rhythm? Maybe a bit of Soul in there?

CHORUS
Sing me, sing me an old song

oh, oh, oh sing me, sing me an old song
c’mon and let the music flow

but-none-could-ever hold a candle
to our sweet Amazing Grace

Oh sing me, sing me an old song
Jus’ like the ones we used to know

now just Imagine, Magic Moments
and You’ll Never Walk Alone - -

and to Let the Sunshine In
‘cause When Your’e Smiling, I Believe
that Your’e my Everything -

CHORUS
Sing me, sing me an old song

It’s a Blue Sky Day

It’s a blue sky day--
Even though it’s raining—

Ah-jus’-know you’re gonna stay
When it’s a blue sky day----

You Brought the Light

How long is it before we learn
Acceptance is the key
It opens up each door in turn
And helps us to – be – free

Out of the darkness you appeared
And raised my hopes so high
Now I’ve nothing left to fear
Since you’ve taught me how to fly

Chorus
You brought the light into my life
Out of the darkness you arrived
You brought the light - you brought the light
I know my life won’t ever be the same
You brought the light to light up my flame
You brought the light – you brought the light

At last I’ve nothing more to fear
The way ahead I can clearly see
Just to know that you are near
Means so very much to me----

2nd verse repeat
Out of the darkness you appeared
And raised my hopes so high
Now I’ve nothing left to fear
Since you’ve taught me how to fly

Chorus
You brought the light into my life
Out of the darkness you arrived
You brought the light - you brought the light
Now my life won’t ever be the same
You brought the light to light up my flame
You brought the light – you brought the light.

Give Away A Smile

Happy faces greet us when we smile ----
Let’s-make-sure, that-we-put-ours-on everyday
Feels so good within, jus’ to see those people grin
We-jus’-know, what-they’re-tryin’ to say---
So give away a smile---- today---

Chorus
So give away a smile -----
And in a little while---
It will return to you.
Send it out again
You’re really sayin’ “Hey friend”
This one’s especially for you---
You-jus’-wanna-give-away a smile---

Bringin’ joy to others
Helps us to feel good too
A self-perpetuating love
That we feel through and through
Each time we, give away a smile

Chorus
So give away a smile -----
And in a little while---
It will return to you.
So send it out again---
You’re really sayin’ “Hey friend”
This one’s especially for you---
You-jus’-wanna-give-away a smile---

Time Machine

Why take the time, why take the trouble
To find what lies beneath the rubble
It makes no sense to find what lies ahead
For by that time we all may well be dead.

Chorus
Take the time machine
And fly it even faster----
Passing all the times ahead
And even death when dead!
Far beyond the ultimate disaster
Let's take the time machine-----

There’s no space here, no endings, no beginnings
We simply keep on turning, faster, spinning
But straight ahead, a new world, bright and clear
Could this be heaven – rushing ever near?

Chorus
Take the time machine
And fly it even faster----
Passing all the times ahead
And even death when dead!
Far beyond the ultimate disaster
Let's take the time machine-----

This planet’s bare and not a land complete,
Signs lie on the ground - - -
On which these words are found
“Quiet please” and “Oxford Street”

Chorus
Take the time machine
And fly it even faster----
Passing all the times ahead
And even death when dead!
Far beyond the ultimate disaster
Let’s take the time machine -----

Take the time machine, take the time machine, take the time machine-------

Notes:
Chorus: ‘Ticking’ sound, rising in volume in the background before start of 1st line. Then repeat 1st line 4 times, rising in volume, to the same ‘ticking’ beat.
Extend ‘faster’ rising in scale ?
Brief 2 beat pause after ‘ahead’. Without ‘music’ (?) just beat/’space noise’ to hear the words.

The last line of the last verse: “Quiet please” and “Oxford Street” spoken clearly, with echoes following,
then fading, before rising to crescendo, to the last Chorus.

Why Oh Why?

Why oh why?
Does my life seem such a lie
When I think of all the things that I’ve done
Me oh my
Seems no matter how I try
I may not reach the end and feel I’ve won

Chorus
Why oh why?
Do I need so many answers
To the problems I feel lie within
Why oh why—can’t I give them all away
An’ just start out all over again

Why oh why so many questions
Why oh why so many lies
All I’m wanting is to know what is true
Then I’ll really have the answers,
And know just what to do

Why----oh why----- With echo (?)

NOTES/SUGGESTIONS:- Words inspired by Paul Simons 'The Boxer' (Li la li etc) Similar style of melody would work here.
Pause of 2 beats after first line of each verse and chorus i.e. ‘Why oh why’, ‘Me oh my’etc.
EXCEPT for last verse where 1st & 2nd lines may be better sung straight through and in quick
succession (change in tempo) followed on with third line and extend, before the last two lines for emphasis.
This could be sung changing the ‘I’ to ‘we’ making it more suitable for audience participation – wider appeal?
I’m Going Home

I’ve been movin’ around, trying to find me a life
That I hope would last me all my days
even got around to findin’ me a wife
Who tried to stop my travellin’ ways.

I’m a restless kinda’ guy, keep on searchin’ for myself
Guess I’ll keep on lookin’ ‘til I die,
Yet I know deep inside, where to find that life of wealth
And suddenly I know the reason why.

Chorus
I’m going home to the people and places,
That I know are so far away,
I still see, their friendly smilin’ faces
And I know in my heart I’m goin’ to stay.

Chorus (with changes)
I’m going home, going home
To those people and the places
I know in my heart I’m going to stay
I’m going home, going home
Jus’ to see those friendly faces
An’ I know in my heart I’m goin’ to stay

I’m---------goin’---------hooooome!

C’mon Show Me

You fool around with other guys
And then your actin’ so surprised
Why don’t you listen up to what I say---
If you want me as I want you
There’s only one thing we can do
There really isn’t any other way.

(Chorus)
C’mon show me, how much you love me
Show me the way that I try to show you,
Oh! C’mon show me, how much you love me
Show me the way that I try to show you.

We always used to have such fun
Now you’re always on the run,
Why are you runnin’ ‘way from me?
You told me that I was your friend
Well honey-pie then here I am
Beggin’ you from down here on my knee.

(Chorus)
Oh! C’mon show me, how much you love me
Show me the way that I try to show you,
Oh! C’mon show me, how much you love me
Show me the way that I try to show you.

C/W style. Fast/humorous.
Could be sung by male or female singer, change ‘guys’ in first verse to ‘gals’ for female, or Male/female duet male sings1st verse, female 2nd.,

Ten-Ten ‘til We Do it Again

Drivin’ down the big slab
With my pedal to the metal
Got a station on the side comin’ thru,
Got your ears on baby
Says a real good lady,
My handle’s Jezabel, how do you do?

You’re comin’ thru loud and clear,
That’s a ten-two do you hear
This is Joker on the line, and holdin’ on,
Do you copy Jezabel?
You were comin’ thru just swell,
But now it seems you’ve gone a bit ten-one.

Chorus
Ten-ten ‘til we do it again, ten-ten ‘til we do it again
Ten-ten ‘til we do it again, ten-ten ---‘til we do it again!

Ten-four now Joker dear
This is Jezabel right here
What kinda wheels you pushin’ down the line?
I’m pushin’ big ones all the way
Got a lorry load of hay,
What type of wheels you got must just be fine!

Bendin’ my ears Joker man
Don’t you know jus’ where I am?
I’m arrivin’ at your back door at this time,
Little wheels beneath my feet
Fancy somethin’ good to eat?
There’s a bean-store comin’ up would do jus’ fine.

Chorus
Ten-ten ‘til we do it again, ten-ten ‘til we do it again
Ten-ten ‘til we do it again, ten-ten ---‘til we do it again!

Well now then Jezabel
That’s soundin’ pretty swell,
But I’ve gotta lot of slab to cover yet.
Got a green light ‘way ahead
And it’s time ah was in bed,
I sure am glad the way that we just met

(Chorus) Then signing off spoken: “Ten-four Joker – keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down”. “Goin’ breaker-break Jezabel - ten-ten ‘til we do it again”.
