Is There Anybody There?

Knew before I got your letter, there was something wrong,
Should have stayed beside you, right where I belong,
Maybe we’d still be together, in another place,
Goin’ home is going to be, so difficult to face

Was it somethin’ I said or did, made you go away?
Maybe there’s another, is that why you can’t stay?
If I had some answers, then I could put things right --
‘stead of wakin’ up from nightmares, in the middle of the night

Chorus
Is there anybody there? Is there anybody there?
I called out softly, is there anybody there?

Every room is dark and empty, not a sound can I hear
I long for just a whisper, to know you are near,
Thought I heard the sound, of a closing door ---
But I knew it couldn’t be that way, not any more --

Chorus
Is there anybody there? Is there anybody there?
I called out softly, is there anybody there?

Anybody there? ----- anybody there? -----
“Where are you baby?” - - (spoken)
Is there anybody there? -------

Repeat to fade.

Blues style song? or at least with a slower rhythm? Maybe a bit of Soul in there?

I Hear the Sound

I Hear the Sound

I hear the sound of peoples voices, crying in the wind
And more of them are asking – why are we so blind?
So many lives in torment – not knowing what to do
Where is it really going to end and can we see this through?

Yet there’s hope within my heart – keeps rising up inside
I realise that you and I have nothing more to hide
In my vision of the future – that is not so far away
Is a golden age of freedom – for everyone, let’s pray---

Bridge
Nelson Mandela spoke of freedom, there’s a man of self-esteem
Martin Luther King to millions said “My friends I have a dream”
Princess Diana brought light, in to the lives of many more
Mother Teresa was a saviour to the sick and to the poor

So let this hope within our hearts be good reason now to give
And to realise we have the power to help so many live
Then we’ll hear the sound of voices filled with love and peace
And the joyous sound of laughter that will truly never cease

I hear the sound ----------
And we have so much to give
I hear the sound ----------
And we can help so many live!

Let’s hear the sound of laughter
Let’s hear the sound of love and peace!
I hear the sound! I hear the sound! I hear the sound!

Rollercoaster

It’s comin’ in on the wind
There’s a deepening emotion
Ah can sense it in my mind
Like a churning of the ocean

There’s a hurricane approachin’
And it’s all inside of me-----
Leading up to an explosion
Not letting me be free--------

Chorus
I’m on a ro----llercoaster--------
An-ocean-of-turbulent dreams
Jus’ don’ know where I’m headin’ to
Nuthin’s quite the way it seems---------
I’m on a rollercoaster – I’m on a rollercoaster----
A rollin’ rollin’ rollin’, rollercoaster----------

In the eye of the storm
I’m alone so alone----
It’s a calmness
That seems so unreal

On the outside there is chaos
On the inside silent pain
An’ it feels jus’ like
The touch of coldest steel

Tag
Jus’ don’ know where I’m headin’ to
Nuthin’s quite the way it seems---------
I’m on a rollercoaster----
A rollin’ rollin’ rollin’, rollercoaster-----

Suggestions: Slow to fast build-up. Menacing like ‘Jaws’beat.
Needs a Freddy Mercury ‘style’ powerful singer. (If only!)

She’s In Love (With Me)

She’s laughing at the rain
Singing all down main street
She’s waving at a stranger
And smiling at him too

Bridge
It doesn’t matter what’s going down
Not-to-the-most-beautiful girl in town
‘cos I’m in love with her, and she’s in love with me------

What a delight she is to see
She’s in lo----ve
Yeah she’s in lo----ve
She’s-in-love with me-------
Oh she’s in lo---ve with me-------

You can see it in her eyes
That sparkle’s no surprise
She doesn’t even need to talk
I can see it in her wa---lk
I'm in love with her---and she's in love with me

Yeah yeah ye------ah
So in love, so in lo---ve (spoken-“I’m such a lucky guy”
She’s in lo----ve with me--------

Could be changed to “He/He’s” etc for a female singer.

Sunrise Mountain

Been away so long now
Other lands I have seen
Fightin’ for our country
An’ fightin’ for a dream---

I’ve climbed so many mountains
Far away from this land
Now I long to climb our mountain ---
I’m reachin' for your hand ------

chorus
Sunrise Mountain
Is callin’ out to me
Where have you been so long-----?
C’mon up now, so good to be free
Sunrise Mountain is callin’ out to me

A new day’s dawning
Our love to explore
Up on that mountain
We’ve seen it all before

On Sunrise Mountain
There’s magic in the air
Such beauty and freedom
Like the words of a prayer

chorus
Sunrise Mountain
Is callin’out to me
Where have you been so-o long----
C’mon up now, so good to be free
Sunrise Mountain is callin’ out to me

Sunrise Mountain – Sunrise Mountain
Is callin’ out----- to me ------------

Sunrise Mountain – Sunrise Mountain – Sunrise Mountain (to fade)

NB This is the second version, with new opening verses and slight changes to wording in chorus and ending.

Jus’ Wanna Be Me

Okay so I’m rough
Around the edges
An’ I’m not one
For makin’ pledges

Not the sort of person
Who can be like someone else (“Oh no!”)
Can’t change the way I am
Jus’ wanna be---- myself-------

Chorus
I jus’ wanna-be-free---
Jus’ wanna be me
I want to be all
Taller than tall
Now can you see----------?
Ah-jus-wanna-be, me--------

I listen to what others say
Tellin’ me “Don’ be that way”
(Ah) don’t-wanna-be half a man---
Jus’-gotta-be all-that-I-can----------

Bridge
I can’t be like someone else----
Jus’ wanna be---- myself---------

Chorus shortened
I jus’ wanna-be-free---
Jus’ wanna be me
Now can you see----------?
Ah-jus-wanna-be, me--------

We Have a Dream

What if there wasn’t a tomorrow
Or another year to come
Tears already run with sorrow
At the beating of the drum

If we put our heads together
We can truly work this out
Yes change things for the better
C’mon let’s shout it out-----------

Chorus
We have a dream----
It begins with you and me
If we change our ways of thinking
I believe this is the key----
To-see-the-people-of-the-world
As our global family
We have a dream --- this is our dream---- we have a dream

The blind man sees in his mind’s eye
The things we try to hide
Let’s avoid this sleep of ignorance
Keep our eyes open wide---------

The greatest gift is love
And now’s the time to give it
Wrap it up with hope and peace
And let us truly live----- it----

Chorus
We have a dream----
It begins with you and me
If we change our ways of thinking
I believe this is the key----
To-see-the-people-of-the-world
As our global family
We have a dream --- this is our dream---- we have a dream

Day Dreaming

Day ---- dreaming ----
Just dreaming of the day---
You’re coming back to me

You came to me at work today
But-then-you’re-never-far-away
I feel you---so close-to-me
There is a vision that I see-----
But then I’m day---- dreamin’
Jus’ day-- drea---min’

I realise how much I miss—
Your smile, the-scent-you-wear, that kiss
So far away and yet so near
Your laughter ringing loud and clear---
But-there-I-go-again, day---- dreamin’
Jus’ day—dreamin’

Dreaming-of-the-day
You’re-comin’-back-to-me
Turning my drea—ms
Into reality---------
Yeah, I’m day-day dreamin’
Dreamy-dreamy-dreaming---
Day--- dreamin’
You’re comin’ back to me ---- today ----------

Been dreamin’ of this daeeaay-----
You’re comin’ back to me
Day------ drea-----min’

Tomorrow (Never Comes)

Tomorrow
Will be a better day
I’ll put behind me
All that sorrow

Try not to think about
You go’in awa-ay
Things will be better
“Please god” by tomorrow

You said that you’d be back
Again -- , tomorrow---
That-was-a-year-ago today
I-know-because each night I pray---

For tomorrow--- and tomorrow---- (Pause)
That’s why tomorrow--- never comes

You-said-that-you’d-be-back-again
A year ago today—
That’s why tomorrow --- never comes---

Trying to capture the feel & essence of ‘Yesterday’! In the same way there is no chorus as such.
Plenty of room for good instrumental ‘themes’ between verses(?)
